iTunes compatible with iPhone 12pro with IOS 16 and OSX 10.11.6

Since upgrading to OS16 my version of iTunes (12.8.2.3) no longer sees my iPhone. Is there a version of iTunes or any other fix which can resolve this?

For iOS 14 or later you need iTunes 12.8.2.3 or better running on OS X 10.11.6 or better. See How to upgrade to OS X El Capitan - Apple Support if required.

Assuming a suitable version of iTunes is in place then in Finder use the menu item Go > Go to Folder..., copy the following text, paste it into the dialog box and press enter:

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/Current/Resources

Unlock your device and connect it to USB. Double click on MobileDeviceUpdater in the folder that has opened. It should notify you of a software update. Install it and iTunes should hopefully recognize your device.

If these steps haven't worked you can also try reinstalling iTunes12.8.2.3.dmg (El Capitan/Sierra) or iTunes12.8.3.1 (High Sierra) while your device is connected and unlocked.

I have this same issue, and have seen this above reply from turingtest2 on most of the similar posts like this, but the suggestion doesn't work for me. 2011 MBP running macOS 10.12.6 Sierra, iTunes 12.8.2.3, both are the latest versions supported by my hardware. iPhone 13 Pro running iOS 16.1. I've always synced my iPhones via USB. My last successful sync was 10/19/21, using my current iPhone 13 Pro, on latest iOS at the time. Today my iPhone is not recognized by iTunes when I connect via USB. Photos recognizes it (a common thread among these reports). I've tried reinstalling iTunes (no change), I've reset my iPhone's Location & Privacy (prompted to Trust computer on next connection, but iTunes still didn't recognize after), I've tried to manually open MobileDeviceUpdater with my iPhone unlocked and connected (application doesn't open). Any other suggestions?
