Itunes backup is too large to restore into the same phone!

I found a similiar issue here iPhone Backup Larger than Storage - Apple Community

before I started writing this question, so I have read all the suggestions below it and they are not useful.

i have an iphone x, and I backed it up through itunes to my windows PC just so I can safely delete everything from my phone and use it for some heavy-storage footages I need to do for work. The plan was to use it for my work and then transfer all the photos/videos I create to my work's drive, erase them from my phone and then restore my itunes backup like nothing ever happened. I know all sorts of unreasonable problems can happen with iphone backups (like the one time a couple of years ago when I was backing up my old iphone through itunes and the phone was almost at its full limit, so it just decided to die mid backup and the good people at apple told me it's a common issue when the phone is almost entirely full -?? why else would i backup??- that has no solution but to erase everythingggg, which i ended up doing. Yes I lost all of my data because of a "common issue") and because I know all sorts of bugs can happen, this time I was careful. I backed up my iphone (64 gb) and the backup folder was 67 gb. I figured maybe it's just a thing since no weird messages popped up at all, maybe it's just a normal apple bit like when the backup takes up double the size of storage on a PC in order to do a restore! But then I thought nope, maybe it really is corrupt! let's stay safe! so I wanted to make sure the backup is good before I deleted everything from my phone.. I clicked "restore backup" and chose the 67 gb backup and it started working.. my phone said "restore in progress" and everything and it just stayed like that for a couple of minutes, restoring, so I figured okay :) not corrupt :) I can safely delete everything now and then restore this backup later.

Now I am trying to restore my backup

it says there is "not enough storage" on m iphone to restore it

the same iphone

I cannot restore the same exact iphone's backup because there isn't enough space on the iphone

In the discussion i linked above, one of the answers is along the lines of "oh i'm sure you're just seeing it wrong or looking at the wrong backup, check again" and "maybe back up your phone again so the new back up would be correct and just use it"

1- no. nope. you're wrong

2- I deleted everything. I cannot back it up again. That's the whole point.

Thank you if you got this far into my question and I hope you help me

sincerely a very frustrated iphone user who was literally just discussing today whether I should get an iphone 14 or *another product that I won't mention here ofc because GUIDELINES* and I think now the answer is screaming at me

iPhone X, iOS 15

Hi eman3abdallah,

If you can't restore an iCloud Backup to your phone, check out If restore from iCloud backup failed:

"If you receive an error while restoring from an iCloud Backup

  1. Try to restore your backup on another network.
  2. If you have another backup available, try to restore using that backup. Learn how to locate backups
  3. If you still need help, archive important data then contact Apple Support."

Take care.
