iPod Classic 164, how to factory restore without iTunes

Can I restore my iPod Classic 164 back to factory default without iTunes. The iPod got corrupted and now only mounts as a USB device. Thus it does not connect to iTunes.

See Corrupt iPod Classic - Apple Community. What are your HDD stats? You should be able to restore the iPod with DFU mode if needed.
