I have a 2021 MacBook Pro 16" with M1 chip.
Lately, when attempting to save a pdf with text I have added it sometimes fails to save the file with the changes. I have been calling Apple about this, but it continues to happen occasionally. They have no solution, I suppose because it does not happen every time.

Please tell us more. Some things to note, to better isolate the situation are:
• Where do the files this happens on originate from?
• What is the error message when this happens?
• What type of changes are you making that don’t save?
• Do these files save to an external drive, iCloud, your local drive or somewhere else?
You mentioned that the issue happens occasionally, which makes some normal isolating steps hard to take such as testing in a new user. That’s why we want to try and pinpoint answers to the questions above.
Another step you can verify, that can be verified regardless are -
Is your macOS up to date? That’s visible in Apple menu > About This Mac.

Are these PDF email attachments from the same sender or source? If so, you may need to reach out to the person or institution sharing these files with you to determine if there are additional actions you would need to take, allowing you to edit the PDF they sent you.
