Resetting Data Statistics

The ability to Reset Cellular Data Statistics no longer seems to exist in ios16 . It used to be at the bottom of the Settings-Cellular page with a button at the bottom to reset the stats. Anyone know if it's been moved to someplace else?

Hi GaryZiesés,

The "Reset Statistics" is still available with iOS 16, and does also reset the cellular data usage.

1. Settings

2. Cellular

3. Scroll to the bottom of the page

4.  Tap Reset Statistics

However, "To get the most accurate cellular data usage from a current period, contact your carrier. "

Thanks for your response. I’m an engineer and fully familiar with my Apple products and software.

I’ve used the Data reset in the past and used the exact screen you’ve referenced. However, it is not there (screenshot below of the bottom of the Cellular screen. It’s also not in the top area of that screen).

I talked with my carrier tech support and a senior Apple advisor and both said it’s gone in iOS16. So, who’s right, and where did it go or why did Apple delete it?

Thanks,

Gary

Thanks for your suggestion of checking restrictions. I doubled checked and I’ve got no restrictions set on anything.

Do carriers put any “overlay” onto the Cellular page in Settings? I’m using TMobile.

Yes, carriers provide a “carrier settings” object that defines just about everything about the carrier; APN settings, networks available, network selection switches, features available (e.g., call fowarding, caller ID options, etc).

As all T-Mobile plans are now unlimited resetting is unnecessary. I’ve had it less than a month, but it’s possible that it resets automatically at the end of a billing cycle. I’ll know in 4 days.

Thank you Lawrence. I was hoping to do a reset in order to track my data usage while traveling outside the U.S., so that I don’t exceed the “free” 5GB cap and end up being throttled down. It keeps from having to buy the International Pass. I guess instead I’ll use the TMobile app and keep track of it that way. An extra step but not all that bad.

Thanks again for the quick response.
