Siri and Apple Music

Does anyone know how to fix the issue with Siri playing music from Apple even if it is not in your library?

every time I ask Siri to play an artist or playlist it simply responds with “I can’t find (x) in your library” it appears to have happened in the past couple days.

I have to keep manually look for the music to play it. It’s really annoying when driving.

I have this same problem with my HomePod. It started a few weeks ago. Every time I ask Siri on the HomePod to play a song, she says it’s not in my library. My Apple Music subscription is of course current (Apple takes the money every month automatically). I can use Apple Music just fine on my iPhone and iPad. And can hand-off the music from my iPhone to the HomePod as usual. But my primary purpose for the HomePod is to play from Apple Music. So, as another person said, this is getting infuriating. I just upgraded my iPhone to IOS 16. Didn’t help. Apple needs to get all over this problem.

Hi shakur87,

If you haven't already, make sure you're running the latest iOS version (iOS 16.0.2). Updates are designed to fix bugs and enhance the user experience. You can find steps for updating here:

Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Then, make sure your subscription to Apple Music is still active to play songs outside of your library:

Use Siri with Apple Music
If you have an individual, family, or student subscription to Apple Music, you can ask Siri to play anything from the Apple Music catalog, find songs by lyrics, add music to your library, and more.

You can find more details here: Use Siri to play music and podcasts - Apple Support

Should the issue persist, we suggest you contact Apple Support so that they can look into this with you further.

Have a great day!

This issue started for me today also, it’s actually infuriating I even restored my phone called support I’m still setting my phone up now it’s taken hours. After restoring it worked for an hour and then went back to the issue why do we pay a subscription for. Time to mail Tim Cook I think!!! Absolutely rubbish service from Apple. Oddly it works from my iPad and HomePod jsut an issue on my phone which is where I use it most in the car
