watch always on with application?

Hi all, probably already asked but didn't find a solution.

I have a Watch Series 8 and want to have Always On to keep my workout app always displayed (I use a specific app). Don't know whether it's possible.

I set the app to be displayed for AlwayOn, and set Wake On Wrist Raise ON but still, the screen switches to the time (HH:MM on the top right corner). Since Wake On Wrist Raise doesn't always work I'd like to have the watch STOP switching to the clock no matter what position my wrist is.

Is this possible?

The guide to learn how to use Always On doesn't seem to cover this case.

In a few words: always on = yes but keep current app screen on, don't switch to anything else.

Thanks for any help.

Ok I followed everything

Made screen always on

Set my working app to all notifications, etc

Set General > Return to clock to 1 hour

In that menu, set my workout app to 1 hour too.

Then when I go jogging, if I turn my wrist 90° and have the watch face flat, I see my screen, all I want.

As soon as I turn my wrist (without lowering it) 90° back again (palm facing my chest) the screen disappears and just shows "HH:MM" on the top right corner. Instantly, not after 2 minutes or 1 hour, just right away.

I have to turn my wrist 90° again to actually switch back to my app screen

Probably we're not talking about the same "clock" here. You probably speak about he global watch face when Display Is Always On.

I'm talking about that small little time indicator on the top right corner that appears immediately during an activity when the watch face is not horizontal, where I'd like the app specific screen always displayed no matter what, without turning off and showing that little time indicator.

Is this possible? Keep an app screen always shown on the clock no matter what position the wrist has?

Sorry to bother you again with this.

Hi sjordi,

Let's take a quick look at Use the Always On feature with your Apple Watch

How to manage the information that appears when your wrist is down

1. Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.
2. Tap Display & Brightness.
3. Scroll down, then tap Always On.
4. Tap Show Complication Data, Show Notifications, or Show Apps. The apps that can show that type of information appear on the next screen.
5. Turn off the apps that you don't want to show information on the screen when your wrist is down. You can turn off the category of information entirely by tapping the button at the top of the screen.

That is to say, following these steps will show the apps that can display information using Always On. If your app is not listed, it will not be able to show information using Always On. This may be something to bring up with the app developer.

How to contact an app developer

Take care.

Settings/general/return to clock

Change from ‘Always’ or ‘After 2 minutes’ to ‘After 1 hour.’ Alternatively, you can scroll down and customize the return to clock setting for each individual app downloaded on your Apple Watch.
