airtag location not updating

the Find My app is not updating the AirTag location. I have 2 AirTags, both with good batteries and in recent days the location is not updating unless I restart the iPhone, even when standing right next to the AirTag. ‘Devices’ and ‘People’’ work fine but not ‘Items’ which just keeps showing the updating circle. Any help please?

Find My not updating AirTag location on my iPhone with iOS 18.4.1 Hi everyone, I’m experiencing an issue with one of my AirTags that I hope someone can help me with. The AirTag is physically with me, but in the Find My app it still shows a location from months ago (specifically, over 3 months ago), and says “last seen at [that old location].” It doesn't update its current position, and I'm unable to make it play a sound. What I’ve tried so far: Made sure Bluetooth is on Restarted my iPhone Removed and reinserted the battery of the AirTag Checked that Find My and Find My network are enabled in my iCloud settings Tried to trigger a location update by moving around with the AirTag Confirmed that the AirTag is associated with my Apple ID Despite all this, the location does not update. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a way to force a location refresh or reset the AirTag without removing it from my Apple ID? Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated! Unable to remove my airtags in Find Me; My own airtags are giving me an alert My iPhone recently gave me a notification that my own AirTags were following me. I tried removing the AirTags from Find My but I week receiving an error messages that says "Find My Unavailable - Unable to remove AirTag. Please try again later." I have tried restarting my phone as well as have the iOS updated and still having the issue. My airtags were experiencing the same issue but was able to remove those through Bluetooth and repairing. AirTags rely on nearby devices to provide location details. Let's check Settings on your iPhone to make sure everything is configured properly:

Open Settings > [Your Name] > Find My, make sure Find My [Device] and Find My network are both enabled.
Open Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services to make sure Location Services is enabled.

If those setting are all enabled, we recommend toggling them off, then back on again. If that doesn't help, reach out to Apple Support directly: Contact - Official Apple Support
