Macbook pro 2016 keeps turning off

Hello guys! Need your help. macbook pro 13 2016 i5 8/256 with touchbar. screen and system turning off but backlight of keyboard and trackpad is working. I tried multiple times resetting smc and nvmram. It s not a screen backlight problem. I turn it off completly, and after restart it works perfectly fine about 5 - 50 minutes, and its turn off again. Does anyone know what the problem is and where to dig?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.6

Try booting into Safe Mode to see if you have the same issue. If Safe Mode works, then you most likely have an issue with some third party software since Safe Mode prevents third party software from launching automatically during boot & login. Otherwise, you likely have a hardware issue of some sort. Make sure to disconnect all external devices in case one of them is causing a problem. You may need to have Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider examine the laptop to provide you with a repair estimate. Keep in mind the 2016 model just became "Vintage" which means repairs can only be performed as long as the necessary part is still available.

You can also try running Disk Utility First Aid from Internet Recovery Mode (Command + Option + R) on the hidden Container. Within Disk Utility you may need to click "View" and select "Show All Devices" so the hidden Container appears on the left pane of Disk Utility. Even if First Aid says everything is "Ok", click "Show Details" and scroll back through the report to see if any unfixed errors are listed. If there are any unfixed errors, then you will need to perform a clean install by first erasing the whole physical drive before reinstalling macOS and restoring from a backup.

You can try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected. However, the only useful diagnostic is one which fails or freezes during testing.

I have the same issue with my 2016 Mac book pro ..took to the apple store they determined is was NOT a hardware issue, They wiped my harddrive and I reinstalled the operating system . Problem still there Called apple support had a senior advisor call me back and forth for 4 weeks spent hours troubleshooting the issue. Was TOTALLY UNSUCCESSFUL! APPLE then told me I need to take it to an authorized apple repair shop and see if they have parts to fix it as apple does not. This is not right. So many Mac users having this same issue and APPLE is not able to fix or find cause? I paid $3,500 for my Mac bought a brand new one though isn a 2016, replacing this every 3-4 years because apple can't help is BS!

Try the suggestions I already posted. If Apple did not detect a hardware issue, then a software issue of some sort is most likely the problem. Hardware issues could also be with any connected devices as well which won't be present when Apple checks out the laptop. I'm not saying there isn't a hardware issue with the laptop, but at this point you and the original poster should investigate other possibilities as well.

Of course having an Apple Authorized Service Provider check out the laptop as well is also a good idea just to get a second opinion. Every tech sees things differently and has encountered things others have not.

Thank you for the reply I can tell you that we went through all the procedures about that you mentioned, and nothing worked. Thank you for the reply I can tell you that we went through all the procedures about that you mentioned, and nothing worked. Interestingly enough, I read one of the comments below that mentioned a possible spring hinge issue and that’s interesting because in April I had Apple replaced the screen. I wonder if they put in a defective part.
