imessage problems dual sim

having problems using imessage with dual sim (one sim, one esim). My main (non-esim) # can't connect to imessage

Dual sim: Sending messages always changes lines Hi folks, raising this thread because all similars are outdated and were not helpful. I have an issue sending SMS/ iMessage from my second line in Dual SIM mode. First SIM (Private) is a classic SIM card, second SIM (Business) is an eSIM. Everytime i try to send a message from my Business line, the conversation settings are automatically switched to "Private" setting and all my messages will be sent from Private line. Receiving messages on my business line works perfectly, which makes it especially awkward when they receive my response coming from my private line. I recorded a small test case in a conversation with myself to maybe help clarifying the issue. Appreciate any help.

Dual SIM iMessage issue I have my default business line (physical SIM) and a personal line (eSIM) active on my phone. I have been able to send/receive iMessage and SMS/MMS from either line. The issue is that iMessage will randomly switch from the personal line to the business line. I text primarily from my personal line, but it will switch to the business line and then will not let me change it back. This is particularly frustrating since Apple Support page "Using Dual SIM with an eSIM" says: Switch numbers during a conversation Tap the number you're using, near the top of the screen. Choose the number you want to use instead. However, when I do this, it will temporarily show in the thread "Number changed to personal" but as soon as I send/receive another text it is still stuck on the business line. Anyone have suggestions on how to make "Switch numbers during a conversation" actually work?

From what it sounds like, an eSIM isn't activating with iMessage, and we'd like to help by providing the steps to take If you can’t turn on or sign in to iMessage or FaceTime. Keep in mind that the steps include not only reaching out to your carrier, but also to Apple Support near the bottom of the link.
