CarPlay switches to iPhone instead of radio

To preface, I never look at apps or photos while driving. However, if I’m parked with my radio on but I’m looking at Twitter, Facebook, or even my photos, if I scroll past a video the audio automatically switches to CarPlay and plays the sound from the video instead of the radio. How do I stop the audio from automatically switching the CarPlay mode?

Please enable shortcuts to allow us to quickly toggle the CarPlay switch on or off while we're in our car. Apple Carplay Playing Audio From Different Applications My wife recently got a new 2023 Honda Pilot and has connected her phone to the wireless Apple Carplay, which is great, but we have recently been having issues with the Carplay audio. When I'm driving the car and she is on her phone in the passenger seat, whenever she opens up Facebook or Instagram, Carplay tries to play the audio from Facebook/Instagram though Carplay and it turns off the FM radio or Spotify we are listening to and Carplay tries to use Bluetooth to play the Facebook/Instagram video audio through the car. The audio will not switch back to the radio/Spotify unless you actually click the button on the dash/headunit. It is very annoying. Any ideas on how to fix this? I've searched online and cannot really find a solution. I don't understand why the Carplay would be trying to steam the Facebook/Instagram audio when they aren't even Carplay supported applications.

Playing sounds through phone speakers while using carplay I love the ability to use car play for maps but I do not want my audio to come through the car speakers. How can I switch? I enjoy scrolling through you tube and TT and don’t need the sound blasting through the car while my toddler is watching his ipad and other riders are on their phone.

I am facing a similar issue with carplay. For me, it’s whenever I try to listen to the radio, it switches to my apple music and if I usb for apple carplay it overheats my phone which then pauses and pops up a message. It’s very frustrating.
