Why is it so hard to capture your ears when setting up spatial audio?

make sure that your iPhone is able to see your whole right ear as well as the left ear.

I’ve tried that. It says to hold camera approximately 12 inches away. I also have taken my glasses off, just in case. It just doesn’t seem to capture my right ear so of course I can’t do my left ear, lol!
