woke up to iPhone unavailable after charging, no password attempted

my phone is charged overnight in a spot no one can reach. no one put in a passcode. just woke up to iPhone unavailable with options emergency and erase iPhone. took 4 tries to get it into restore using my computer. got message - if you iPhone can't be updated, you will need to restore it to its factory settings. (to 16.0.2 - it already was fully updated). tried it a few times and it would just pop back to iPhone unavailable. kept trying. finally seemed to "update". then got iPhone unavailable try again in 7 hours, 58 minutes. so i'm going to wait it out and see if he works. only help i can find online is when you have entered your password incorrectly to get to this point with your phone. this is a bug that needs to be fixed.
