iMessage on MacBookPro from iPhone

When people text me it normally goes to my (Samsung) phone. Then 1 friend who has an iPhone sent me a text with my phone number and it went to iMessage on my computer. Now 2 more people with iPhones are texting me and it goes to iMessage. One of those people, if she responds to a thread it goes to my phone. If she initiates a text, it goes to iMessage. I don't want to use iMessage. Can I turn it off? I recently updated to 12.6.
