IOS 16 Airplay Sync

Just received my iPhone 14 Pro Max (previous was a 12 Pro Max) with IOS 16. When I airplay to my homepods throughout my house, everything plays and the music is synced up nicely across multiple homepods and homepod mini's. Once I add my appletv (which uses the tv speakers) the apple tv is not in sync with the rest of the homepods and the music has an echo effect. I did not have a chance to test my iPhone 12 with IOS 16 but did not have issues when running IOS 15 when playing music on the appletv and homepods. LML. Thanks.
