When I plug my ipod classic into my pcs USB port, with iTunes open, the ipod icon doesn't appear so I can't download to my ipod and iTunes screen just freezes... other apps on the PC stop working, until I unplug the ipod from the usb

Ipod wont sync my iPod classic fifth generation wont sync with my iTunes. i got it off of eBay and whenever i plug it in my iTunes app freezes up and i cant even close it. it will sometimes show up in file explorer if i put it into disk mode as disk and sometimes when i unplug it it comes up as a bunch of random symbols. when i turn the iPod on it works fine there is no music on it it works normally until i plug it in i have no idea what is wrong how do i sync it?

How to get my ipod classic working I have 160gb iPod Classic. When I turn it on I get the normal apple logo followed by a screen with a red X and the old apple ipod support URL. When plug it into my laptop (I have a PC running Windows 10) it seems to not be recognized at all as a connected device, including in iTunes (running version 12.12.9). I've tried holding the menu button and middle buttons to reset it and it goes to the same screen. I'd love to get my iPod and running, any advice?

My iPod shows up when I connect it to my PC, but the following message appears: "The software required for communicating with iPods is not installed. Would you like to download and install it now?". When I click on "Download and install", nothing happens. It just says "iPod support not installed" in Apple Devices. I have tried restarting my PC, and the disconnecting and reconnecting my iPod, but this doesn't help. Any ideas?
