Can't find transferred files

I am in the process of switching from a 2009 Mac Pro to a 2013 Mac Pro. I used the Migration Assistant to transfer from one to the other. On the old Mac Pro, I had several folders on the SSD (root area, I believe). When I look on the new one, they are not there. There is a folder on the desktop called Relocated Items, but it does not have those folders in it. Where are the files/folders? Let me know. Thanks.

Were you able to find the missing items under /Users/Shared?

As to iCloud, if you don't want to use it, you don't have to (though it is immensely useful, IMHO, especially if you have more than one device - macs, iPhones, iPads can share documents, photos, settings...).

Go to System Preferences->Apple ID. I am not sure how it looks when there is none set (I have been using this for so many years now), but I suppose you can just turn it off there.
