Apple Music not working on Macbook

My Apple Music doesn't seem to be working on my MacBook, but is fine on my other apple devices. It sometimes won't let me search for new songs, but even when it does it won't let me download new songs or save them to a playlist. I have checked my internet connection, storage space (both device and icloud), and nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. I don't know what else to try?

Hello Libsem,

Apple Music is a great service! To confirm, are you seeing any error messages when trying to download or search songs in Apple Music on your Mac, or is the Music app becoming unresponsive? If the Music app is freezing or becoming unresponsive, complete the steps listed below. These steps are specific to resolving issues with applications on your Mac. After completing a step, test to see if the issue has been resolved or continues before moving on to the next step. You can also find these steps outlined in the following article.

  • "If an app doesn’t quit as expected, or it’s unresponsive, you can force quit the app (you may lose unsaved changes). Choose Apple menu  > Force Quit, select the app in the dialog that appears, then click Force Quit.
  • If the app quit, reopen it by clicking Reopen in the dialog that appears.
  • Restart your Mac by choosing Apple menu > Restart.
  • Make sure the app is compatible with your version of macOS.
  • Open another file in the app. There may be a problem with the original file.
  • Check for updates to your software.
  • Disconnect any peripheral devices you just connected (for example, a printer). They may not be compatible with your version of macOS.
  • Uninstall any app plug-ins or enhancements from other manufacturers.
  • If you recently updated the app or macOS, a plug-in or enhancement you installed may no longer be compatible.
  • Diagnose problems with your Mac to learn whether hardware you installed, such as additional memory, is incompatible, improperly installed, or defective."

If an app freezes or quits unexpectedly on Mac - Apple Support

If the app isn't unresponsive, have you quit and reopening Music to see if the issue persists? If not, you can quit Music by clicking Music in the top menu (when the app is open), followed by Quit Music. After you've quit Music, reopen to see if the issue persists. You'll also want to make sure you're running the latest macOS. Since Music is a built-in app, any updates for Music would be included in the macOS update. You can find the steps for updating in the following article.
