When I try to send an email to a particular person whose in my Contacts file with the correct email address, it goes to an old email address that she hasn't had in years. I can't find the old email address in my Mac, but it continues to happen.

No. I do not need the account. You have that contact saved under that account possibly so you need to go into the account settings for that account on a computer and see if you can delete the old contact.
What email account are you using?
