Most apple products have a 1-year limited warranty. If you purchased the item from a third party, the warranty on file may not match when you purchased it. if you can provide proof of purchase it will help the process.

Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support. The tech support advisor may be able to register the purchase date on your proof of purchase or may have to have Agreement Administration process the request. But it should be an easy fix.
