Apple Care Plus non-use credit

While picking up new iPhone today I had a discussion with store rep who told me that although it’s in the “fine print” you can claim for some sort of refund for an Apple Care Plus plan that you have made no claims on. Anybody know anything about this ? I bought a new 14, but have a perfectly working 12 that has about a month to go until it’s two year coverage (paid up front in full) expires.

Any deets/help is appreciated

In addition, I assume I would need to have the 2 year plan expire before I attempted to make this claim ? I would like to sell the 12, but not before plan expires.

You may cancel your AppleCare plan on your iPhone 12.

With about a month remaining, you should expect negligible credit from this cancellation.

There is absolutely no reason to wait for the plan to expire before selling the iPhone 12.
