Hi there Kylagreysoncooper,

If you are unable to download the iOS 15.7 update, these steps from If your iPhone or iPad won't update can resolve this issue:

Remove and download the update again
If you still can't install the latest version of iOS or iPadOS, try downloading the update again:
1. Go to Settings > General > [Device name] Storage.
2. Find the update in the list of apps.
3. Tap the update, then tap Delete Update.
4. Go to Settings > General > Software Update and download the latest update.

If you don't see the update in the list of apps or if the issue happens again, you need to update your device with your computer:
Update your device using a Mac with macOS Catalina or later
Update your device using a Mac with macOS Mojave or earlier, or a Windows PC
Learn how to use recovery mode if your computer doesn't recognize your device or your screen is stuck on the Apple logo for several minutes without a progress bar.

We hope that helps! Cheers.

Hello Kylagreysoncooper,

Your phone is not going to stop working, so you don't have to worry about that.

The screenshot you sent in the most recent reply is Settings > General. For step 2. Go to iPhone Storage.

Find the failed update in that list.

Then, you can restart the device again: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

Then, instead of upgrading to iOS 15.7, try getting iOS 16. It will not harm your device to jump to iOS 16.

Make sure you have a good backup prior to upgrading: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

If it fails again, you might want to try on another wireless network like at a friend or family members house, or make time for an appointment to the Apple store sometime in the future. No rush, your phone won't suddenly stop working because you didn't update right away.

Thanks.

Kylagreysoncooper,

Thank you for the screenshots.

As mentioned previously, connect your iPhone to a different reliable Wi-Fi network. Turn off all VPN networks during this process. These may block connection to the Apple servers.

If the same issue is present, updating with a computer is the next step. We understand you do not have one available. In this case, you can visit a local Apple Authorized Service Provider or Apple Store to update the software on your iPhone. This link will assist you with finding a location: Find Locations - Apple

Take care.

I have the same issue on my iPad Pro. The idea that you have to use a computer and iTunes to update is unacceptable as not everyone has access to a computer. It’s also super janky in terms of solutions. The error message is also totally useless. No code with it, no hint of what’s wrong etc.

My two phones, one a very old model and one a new model both updated fine over the same Wi-Fi at the same time.

This is a security update for a zero day not a big feature update so why all the hoops! 🤬 You could be forgiven for thinking you’ve stumbled on a windows forum by some of the solutions given here. Apple is slipping in the QA department that’s for sure. Not that I’m about to jump ship into the Android dumpster fire over it.
