Added music to playlist just disappears after a minute

I have had this problem for - literally - years now. I will add a new album to a playlist only to have those newly added tracks just disappear from the playlist and the music app altogether. I add them again and it usually sticks the second time. I have a lot of playlists and about 60,000 songs if that matters.

This happens with all new music. All the time. I keep thinking this bug will be fixed in an update - it hasn't.

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 12.5

Thanks for this - but this hasn't work. It almost does it quicker now? I add the album to the playlist - it shows up for a second and then boom - its gone.

Two things to try. Hold down option as you launch Music and explicitly reselect your Music library, normally at ~/Music/Music/Music Library.musiclibrary. Close Music then hold down option+cmd as you launch Music to open it in it's safe mode which may do some maintenance on the database.

Reach out to Apple Support in case it is an issue they are aware of. Do you have any third party security software?
