Mac starts on its own

Hi,

Whenever I shutdown my MacBook Air completely it randomly turns back on, it’s very irritating and I don’t know what to do.(there was a gap of about 2 months where I didn’t use my mac and at that time I installed a body case which doesn’t properly closes the lap)

and now it restarts whenever I shutdown the mac.

I tried force restarting but it didn’t work

Thanks in advance

Even though I doubt the same, the issue must be due to that "body case" only. Try removing the body case & then check if your system is still restarting on its own.

Further, if your MBA keeps restarting again and again, there might be some serious issues that you need to fix immediately. The issues can be related to Hardware or Software.

Few method to fix hardware related issues:

1. Check the peripheral devices connected to your Mac

2. Check the internal RAM or any 3rd party hardware on your Mac

Few methods to fix software related issues:

1. Check for pending updates

2. Boot Mac in safe mode

3. Reset PRAM/NVRAM/SMC

4. Repair Mac drive using Disk utility

5. Clean your disk

6. Reinstall MacOS

Hope this will help!

I suspect the "body case" you installed. If the case is closed but then is slightly open some of the Mac models (not sure which model yours is) will start automatically at some point if it senses that it has opened just enough. Suggest you remove the "body case" (whatever that is) and see if the problem is resolved.

As pervious Contributor suggested and remove this.

The Tolerance Level between the Closed Lid and the Chassis is so small - the slightest gap between the two is not good and may very will be the root cause of this issue.

Also as previous Poster mentioned - most of the newer Apple Computer are set to Auto Come On the very second the Lid is opened even if the user has shut it down

At least my Old MBA 2018 Retina did as does my M1 MBA 2020.
