Glitch with iMessage Photos Since Update

Hi,

I just updated my iPhone 8 Plus to iOS 16. Since the update, I've noticed that when I go to my iMessage history with someone most of the attachments and pictures we've shared are no longer there, but if I scroll up through my texts with them everything is there. Even some things we've shared since the update are not showing up there either.

All my iMessages get uploaded to iCloud automatically and I still have a lot of iCloud storage, and my phone is also set on automatic backup.

Does anyone know why this problem could be happening, and is there any way to fix it?

Thanks!

iPhone 8 Plus

Hey bg256,

Do you attachments show if you tap on the contact at the top of the message thread and scroll down? Test to verify.

Is this happening with all contacts or just some? Is this just with iMessages or SMS as well?

One thing that can help is if you restart your iPhone. Here’s how:

1. Press and hold the side button until the power-off slider appears.
2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.
