Hard Reset for macbook air

My password wasn't working when I tried to log into my MacBook air. I just got it yesterday. I thought I could do a hard reset by simply erasing the device off of my icloud. Now it's saying there's no profile to restore and I am not able to reinstall MacOS Monterey. How do I hard reset so I can set it up with my apple ID again?
