disable delete message confirm and report junk question

I disagree.

The expected behaviour is to delete the message just like it always has.

Then maybe a notification of this "new feature" and ask the user if they want to enable it in settings.

NOT, "let's just throw another couple of hoops for the user to jump through because we think what we made is cool".

I'm trying to use my bloody phone to get something done in the LEAST amount of steps necessary. That's basic UI/UX Design 101.

This makes no sense. Users were able to do this (swipe to immediate delete) before the latest IOS upgrade (around Dec 2022), without issue. How is adding a duplicate “are you sure?” step to delete a text useful? Maybe I’m missing something.

It is expected behavior only because it was a user story in a sprint that someone should have subjected to analysis on the value of this feature as it pertains to usefulness and UX. For me, it adds no value and, in fact, creates extra clicks while positioning the default confirmation in the same space as the delete selection. This was a bad decision that was poorly executed, and your defense of it -- expected behavior -- is the typical condescending remark from a development perspective.

The analysis Apple seemed to have missed is the majority of unknown numbers are randomly generated, so this feature does little to create a junk list that is effective. And blocking known numbers is already an option. So, it makes little sense logically to enable this feature by default. It should be disabled by default with the option to enable it according to user preference. It is, after all the user's device. With this type of feature, it should be up to the user to decide what level of security they prefer. But like most security decisions, the default opinion is to force security on users and like many bad ideas, those who support it cannot or will not admit it may not have been a good idea.

Ditto! If I wanted to report something as junk or spam, I’d forward it to my carrier via text. Now, I have to do it for every notification and unlabeled text I get that’s not spam. And the kicker is that this Apple feature doesn’t even work.

Yeah apple added a lot of small stupid things with this updated. The pop up message you can’t get rid of and they got rid of the volume sliding control bar. I have been an all apple electronic user for 15 years. I’m done. I’m trading in all my apple products for android. Less of a price tag, but a much better system!

I would love to see this go away - I keep hitting report junk BY ACCIDENT! It is in the same spot as the old delete! That’s poor design. I know I am going to end up blocking texts that I didn’t intend to. (Have already in the first two days using it and I have no idea how to “unjunk” a sender.)

I agree. We should have both of those as options for at least have them as an option that you can execute instead of just deleting the text with a single action. So that we can swipe left or write in emails, it would be great if you could do that for text messages where we can call up report as junk. S one directional swipe and delete as another directional swipe and have a setting where we can ask if we want to confirm with Alicia. That would be the best of what I suggested and suggestions.
