Returning an old iPhone on the Upgrade Program

I'm picking up a new iPhone 14 Pro Max on the upgrade program from a local Apple Store. Can I return the old iPhone (iPhone 13 Pro Max) to Apple via a mail kit rather than dropping it off at the store at the time of pickup?

Last year after dropping off an old iPhone in exchange for the then new iPhone 13 Pro Max, Apple claimed that it never received the old phone in spite of the paperwork I had documenting this.

Hey philwupdx,

If you received the instructions included in your trade-in kit, you can send the device via mail. There should be information on how to prepare, pack, and ship your device.

"Keep in mind that the estimated trade-in value is valid for 14 days, and we encourage you to send the device to us within this time frame to ensure that you get this value. Recycled devices should be sent back as soon as possible, at a time that’s convenient for you." For more information review the information here:Apple Trade In.

If you're able to power on the iPhone 13, follow the steps in this article to prepare it: Get your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch ready for service. This provides steps on backing up and erasing the iPhone.

Take care.
