What happens if one cancels the "Verifying ABC.app" dialog?

When opening a new app or updating an existing one, I sometimes quickly get the "Verifying ABC.app" dialog, like in this separate topic: https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/151571/what-is-the-verifying-xxx-app-dialog-and-how-do-i-get-passed-it

This dialog has an "x" button to cancel it. What happens if one accidentally clicks the "x" button? Will that cancel the verification itself and continue running or will it cancel running of the app/installer, thus requiring verification again on the next run?

Thank you!

Some huge packages like Xcode might take a few minutes to verify even on a SSD.

I have bootable macOS 12.6 backup clones made with Carbon Copy Cloner. Nowadays CCC can update only the data volume to those backups and if I then boot to the backup (which might be several point updates behind the master), usually the Xcode is re-verified (obviously because some file in the data-volume is out-of-sync with its system volume?).

@Matti Haveri I understand, thank you. Was wondering, though, that if the user wants to run the app, verification would have to fully complete at some point. So I guess the idea is to stop such that it doesn't take resources now and then run it at a later point in time again. Just seems like a bit of strange user experience, but I guess if it takes lots of time, it makes sense.
