Downloads Folder, original location not found.

I had deleted something from my Dropbox folder because I had uninstalled Dropbox from an older MacBook. (Might have been for my current one. But Dropbox on this new one is working fine.)

The downloads folder is a missing icon in the sidebar and Finder folder. Anyone know how to restore this or fix the problem without doing a complete reboot of my MacBook?

The model I am currently working with is the 2021 MacBook Pro with M1 chip.

macOS Monterey 12.6 with over 300 GB to spare.

I have tried this and the downloads folder is still there. But when I click on it says "'Downloads' can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found."

Also, if I'm on the same screen as your screenshot, the downloads folder shows as a missing icon/broken link.

Are you speaking of DropBox or your Downloads folder as these are two separate locations? Deleting something from DropBox should not affect the Downloads folder on your computer. When you delete a file from DropBox, it will typically ask if you want the file to be deleted everywhere or not, so be careful when deleting DropBox files.

I'm trying to access the downloads folder or restore the downloads folder to my Macbook.

Me referring to my Dropbox folder is that I had received a new Macbook and installed Dropbox. I noticed that in my Dropbox folder on my desktop has another file that links my Macbooks' Dropbox in the folder to my desktop. This link allows me to remotely open my Macbook folders from my PC desktop. I had 2 because of the 2 Macbooks I have. I deleted one because I had uninstalled Dropbox from my old Macbook. I think that might have messed up my downloads folder on my new Macbook.

Open a Finder window and navigate to your user folder. Open your user folder. Drag the Downloads folder to the Dock and/or Sidebar. A link (and icon) will be placed in the Dock and/or Sidebar.
