iOS 16 customise Lock Screen with current photo

I’m sure I’m not the only one waking up and a going to be asking about this this morning.

My lock screen has a much loved photo of my wife and I taken many years ago by a friend. The original is nowhere to be found, I don’t think it made it into photos, I even know the exact location and date the photo was taken.

Setting up the lock screen this morning, I cannot use any of the new lock screen features with the old photo, there’s no way of extracting and reading this much loved image and whilst I can create other lock screens, this is the one I want.

Hello helpme931,

To help resolve this issue, you can take a screenshot of the photo on the Lock Screen. This would put the photo back into your Photos album. Then you can select the photo as your new wallpaper.

These articles shows you how to take a screenshot and change the wallpaper on your Lock Screen:

1. Press the side button and the volume up button at the same time.

2. Quickly release both buttons.
3. After you take a screenshot, a thumbnail temporarily appears in the lower-left corner of your screen. Tap the thumbnail to open it or swipe left to dismiss it.
