I am trying to update my 2013 MacBook Pro with Retina display to Big Sur but the download says it’s not available when I try to go through the App Store. Monterey is not compatible with my laptop. Is there another way to download Big Sur from Apple?

Do you have access to another Mac? Then you can download Big Sur from there and make a bootable installer with it, and so install big sur on your late 2013

Thank you very much for your response. I have a late 2013 MacBook Pro, so it should be compatible with Big Sur. When I open the link from the download page you referenced it sent me to the app store. When I try to download from there, it gives me the following message: "Update not found. The requested version of macOS is not available.
This is what I got after copying that command in the terminal:
softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 11.6.8

A Late 2013 MacBook Pro is compatible with Big Sur, an Early 2013 MacBook Pro is not.
Hmmm. The only other thing I can think of to try is updating while in Safe Mode.

Has the drive or logic board been replaced?

See if this command works in the Terminal.
softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 11.6.8
Which version of Catalina is installed?
10.15.7
