I just bought a USB SuperDrive to connect to my new iMac (M1). It does not show up. Any ideas?

Yup. Once I inserted a CD, it shows up in finder.

I’ve also connect a very old Seagate external HD. It showed up on the desktop. So I assumed the same behavior. Interesting. But it’s all good.

An empty disc drive does not show up on the Desktop or in Finder. Try inserting a DVD or CD into the drive.
