Exchange not Syncing with Apple Mail on Mac OS Monterey

Hi all, I recently got a Macbook Pro (14-inch, 2021) with macOS Monterey. I find that MS Exchange is not Syncing properly with Apple Mail on my Mac, but syncs fine with my iPhone. While Mail downloads all the incoming e-mails, if I delete a message in my Mail Inbox, it does not update that action on the server and I am sent that message again. However, whenever I delete a message in MS Outlook, it deletes it from my Apple Mail inbox too. So, the syncing appears to be one-way instead of both ways. Also, whenever I move a message with attachment(s) from my Apple Mail Inbox to a local mail folder, the moved message shows up empty. And it also disappears from my Inbox.

I tried deleting my Exchange account and adding it, but it didn't work. Any other ideas for fixing this vexing problem would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Hello Shyamer,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

We want to help get your email syncing properly with your Mac.

Since the message returns after deleting it, it sounds like the account is not properly connected.

Did you take these steps to add the account?

"Add an email account

  1. From the menu bar in Mail, choose Mail > Add Account.
  2. Select your email provider from the list, then click Continue.
  3. Some accounts, such as Google, might ask that you click Open Browser to complete authentication in your web browser.
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to enter account details, such as your name, email address, and password. If you're not sure what information to enter, please contact your email provider for help."

You said that adding the account didn't work. Did it not resolve the issue, or were you not able to add the account? Do you see any error messages?

Do you have any other mail accounts we can test the issue with to see if it's only happening to this account?

We hope this helps to further isolate the source of the issue so your email is working as expected on the Mac.

Cheers!

Hello Shyamer,

We would suggest that you try to isolate what is causing the problem by starting the system in safe mode.

Here are the steps from  How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support:

1. Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key as your Mac starts up.
2. Release the key when you see the login window, then log in to your Mac.
3. You might be asked to log in again. On either the first or second login window, you should see ”Safe Boot” in the upper-right corner of the window.

The computer will take longer to start in safe mode, and the screen may have some distorted video as it starts up. This is normal. Once you are logged in, use the system and test to see if the issue continues.

If everything seems to work as expected, go ahead and restart the computer normally and test again.

Post back if you are still having problems after working through the steps in the link above.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

Cheers!

Yes, I was able to add the account, and it did not give me an error message. I have a GMail account, which I have never accessed via Mac Mail (I usually check it on my Web browser).

I am not a new user. I've had this set up for several years, and it worked fine. Even on my new computer with the new OS, it worked fine for about 2 weeks and then I started noticing this problem. So, I don't think it's a set-up problem.

Any further thoughts on trouble-shooting? Thanks 🙏🏽
