Combine mpeg files

With Quick Time you can append videos via the menu Edit -> Add Clip to End...

In addition to the good advice you have already got: if there are a lot of files and you do this sort of thing relatively often, you can consider ffmpeg. It requires using the Terminal, which is not for everyone; but it lets do it quickly and offers nearly infinite flexibility.

iMovie will give you total control.
