Apple Account put in Wallet

Why can't I add my Apple Account in my Wallet app? I've tried and it keeps saying "Could not connect to Apple pay - Apple pay is temporarily unavailable." Why is it unavailable?

Thank you for your reply, and screen shot, jlgammill,

Yes. Apple Account Balance can not be added to Wallet at this time.

The Apple Account balance can still be used ok, ie: for purchases from Apple.

See if this helps:

NB: Some purchases might require that you have a credit card on file,

even if you use your Apple Account balance to make the purchase.

Hi jlgammill,

Welcome to the Apple Community.

We are all Apple users, like yourself.

Re: Why is it unavailable?

Sorry, I don't know for sure ...

... maybe because what you were trying to do was not acceptable in your country or region.

Seems an Apple Account is your Apple ID account for Apple purchases / services etc..

However Apple Pay just uses your card-provider's credit / debit cards to pay merchants ...

ie: your account is wth your card-provider..

Now, I'm no expert .... Apple may be providing a way in the future to link the two ...

seems some in the USA may even be able to add their account to the wallet app now .

However, the way I understand it, this linking procedure is generally not available..

Hope this helps :-)
