I tested this on my iPhone 12 Pro iOS 15.1 (The same hold good even for iOS 15.6.1)


  1. Touch and hold the Audio Message
  2. Tap on the displayed recording
  3. Tap on Share Icon
  4. Choose any of the options to share via, AirDrop, Messages, Email


The pic below is self-explanatory (on iPhone 12 Pro iOS 15.1)

Thank you, but that is not my situation. I’m not downloading from iMessage or other direct communication to me.


I am downloading from an independent app from an organization that I support and has recordings of speeches. According to Apple, these files should automatically download to the File Folder, usually into the Download file. It doesn’t do that, nor dose it download to the Apple Music app.
