Touch ID is missing on my mac mini running 12.5.1

My touch ID was not working so I removed the finger print I had and tried to add a new one. I said it was unable to create a new one. Thinking this was an error I restarted the system. When it came back up, touch ID was no longer in my system preferences.

Assuming you are using the Apple keyboard with TouchID, try the following:

-power down the keyboard and physically connect it to the Mac then power back up and see if that works

-totally remove pairing the keyboard as a Bluetooth device, power down, and do the above process. This should re-pair the keyboard with the Mac as a"new" device.
