How do I stop my MacBook from changing words into all caps?

When I type my first name and last name together, autocorrect changes all of the letters in my name to uppercase. It's only for my first and last name. If I type only my first name, it doesn't change. If I type my last name only, it doesn't change. But when I type both of them together (with space in between), the entire name changes. I haven't seen anything else that I type be changed into all caps like this.

I have tried going to system preference and disabling the "capitalize words automatically".

I have tried going into the LocalDictionary file, my name isn't in there.

I tried making a text replace for my name, but I can't have spaces in between words for that.

How do I fix this?

I have started having this problem too.

I recently ran Software Update and if I had to guess, it started happening then.

I am currently running macOS Monterey 12.6 (21G115).

I have a MacBook Air (M1, 2020).

It happens in Messages and textEdit.

If I type my first name and last name together, the system changes them to all caps.

Eg, I type "Jane Appleseed" and it changes to "JANE APPLESEED."

My first or last name in isolation does not trigger this behavior. Jane stays Jane.

I have tried to add each name in System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Text and it makes no difference.

If I deselect "Capitalize words automatically" in System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Text the bug goes away.

Of course, so do the helpful aspects of that feature, so it's not a great workaround.

Please advise.

Which macOS version is listed in the Overview tab of the Apple menu () > About This Mac?

Which app are you typing in when you see this behavior? Does this happen when typing your name in multiple apps?

If you turn off auto-correction, does that make a difference?

To turn off autocorrection for a specific app, open the app, then choose Edit > Spelling and Grammar > Correct Spelling Automatically (it’s off when a checkmark isn’t shown).
