When can I subscribe to Applecare+ extended warranty for Macbook Air?

I purchased Applecare+ about a week after I purchased my Macbook Air; it expires in December of this year. I didn’t see an option to extend my warranty on the Apple website. Will it become available after my current Applecare plan expires? Or am I simply not eligible for an extension?
