Just bought a new mini mac and transferred my data from my laptop but when using email for the first time I get the error "An error occurred during the import. Make sure you have available space in your folder and try again". What does this error mean?

You can see available server space if you Control click on one of your inboxes>Get Account Information
If you need to create space on the server you can create a mailbox/folder in the "On My Mac" section and move your email if you want to preserve them. This storage space is just that —on your mac, freeing up server space(?)
