my iPad is stuck on guided access and when I go to enter the password it is malfunctioning and brings only part of the QWERTY board up to put the passcode in. We have everything locked on the iPad so the buttons are locked from use as well. Not sure where to go from here we are waiting for the iPad power to die, but we haven’t been able to test this yet

Try force restarting your iPad. Press and very quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button, then press and very quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button. Press and hold the top button, then when the Apple logo appears, release the top button. The timing is a little tricky, so try it a few times.
