Text message issue

Lately for the last couple months me and my wife don’t receive text messages to each other and sometimes I receive messages from her friends that they sent to her an she has received messages from my friends that they sent to me how do I get this fixed so we receive each other’s messages and make it so we don’t each receive messages from the wrong people

She is all-in with Apple (Mac and iPhone)….I have a Mac and iPad but use an Android phone. When I send her a text via my Android phone, her reply goes to my iMessage, and not back to my phone. My wife sometimes does not receive my text messages Doesn't matter if I send from my iPhone or my Mac, she doesn't receive the messages until she sends one to me first and I reply to that. I think this could possibly be related to the fact that I have her Apple ID email address stored in her contact information and it's somehow using iCloud instead of SMS? I also have her contact information in Outlook and Google, so she's a linked contact. Naturally, I wouldn't block my wife :) I am using an iPhone 13 Pro Max and she is using an iPhone 11 Pro Max and also her iMac M1 (messages are not received on either device).

Text messages show wrong sender My wife sends some text messages that correctly show her as sender. Other times she text’s and the sender reads as me. It happens when she sends texts to me and when she sends them to others, including family members

It is not clear whether you are referring to SMS or iMessage.

iMessage requires internet (Either over WiFi or Cellular Service) as it is sent over internet protocol.

SMS does not require any internet it is sent over cellular voice protocol.
