Links do NOT open apps but web instead

If I receive a link in iMessage (to twitter, google maps, instagram for example - but make no mistake… it’s ALL links) open up a safari page instead of the app itself. I know that it should open the relevant all because it used to, but now it doesn’t.

furthermore, when trying to open the app from safari when prompted (like most websites that have apps do) it directs me to the App Store instead of opening the app I already have. To be clear, this is a secondary problem - please solve both but the focus being on the primary problem.

lastly, let’s not exchange support help that says “delete and reinstall affected apps”. All apps are affected, and this used to work fine. If it’s a setting, great. If it a bug, so be it. Would just like answers

I have. To my knowledge, I've tried everything.

Very strange this isn't a more common problem. I saw someone post earlier this year about it but the thread was closed so I had top open a new discussion.

The App developed may not have developed the app such that links in the Safari Browser are captured by the app and it opens automatically.

Try the following...

  • Ensure the app is not offloaded
  • Ensure the App is on your iPhone.

Hi Sravan, as mentioned in my original note, all of the apps used to open just fine from links (Again - Twitter, instagram, Google Maps - All of these we both know are developed to open the app). To repeat myself again: I will receive a link to one of these in iMessage and it will open in safari.

The two things you mentioned to try are, of course, not relevant at all as I mentioned above that they are on my phone...

I'm shocked and confused by your response. It's as if you didn't even read my original inquiry.
