Re-routing of Amazon links in email/messages/messenger/WhatsApp etc. to Safari

Why is it that when I click on an Amazon link in one of the subject apps, it gets rerouted to safari instead of opening in the Amazon app? Even if I long press the link, I have no option to open in the app.


I am on an iPad Pro 2nd Gen, with iPadOS 15.7.

Hyperlinks in Mail or Messaging will open in your chosen default web-browser (e.g., Safari, Firefox, Chrome). If you wish to open a link within a dedicated third party App, you must either copy and paste the link - or in some circumstances, may be able to use the Share facility.


Long-touch the link - and from the menu select the Copy or Share action.
