HomeKit won't forget an accessory

This is about HomeKit, but there is no Topic called HomeKit and I had to choose something, so I chose "Using iPhone."

I removed an accessory (Sensi thermostat) and tried to re-add it, but Homekit insists the device is still added. I then removed all my accessories, deleted my home, and deleted the app. I reloaded the app, added a new home, and tried to add the accessory and it still says it is already in HomeKit. How can I get HomeKit to forget?

Hello Solstice2022,

It sounds like you've removed all HomeKit accessories, but when trying to re-add a thermostat, it says that it's already been added to HomeKit. We're happy to help.

To start, make sure the device you're setting up HomeKit on is running the latest software version:

1.) Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2.) Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3.) Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.

If your device is already running the latest software version, you may want to try resetting the thermostat to factory settings. This article from the manufacturer provides steps for doing so:

One reset, let us know if you're able to add the accessory successfully.

Take care.
