Why am I not able to block someone on iMessages?

I am not able to block a person on iMessages and it is bothering my mental health a lot. Kindly look into this as soon as possible.

Blocking Hi couple things.. my iMessages turned green in a chat That persons contact photo isn’t showing there is no edit option available when I go to the contact info only “Hide Alerts” show as option.
