Apple Notes Pencil Lag

I recently bought the iPad Air M1 + an Apple Pencil 2nd Gen. In the last week I've noticed a half a second lag when writing notes in the Apple Note app. I've stored my notes locally and not in iCloud. My iPad is up to date, pen fully charged, closed all other open apps and cleaned my screen.

The lag doesn't happen all the time. If I write in cursive it seems to be fine but once I lift my pen and write again, it will glitch/ lag.

There's no lag in Procreate or other apps. Any ideas or suggestions? Otherwise, I'm going to have to take it in to Apple.

Hi aleexcannon,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. You've tried some great troubleshooting so far.

Next, try changing your Apple Pencil tip, then test. Does the same occur? If you are using a case, try removing the case and see if that helps. This may help narrow down the cause.

From Settings > Apple Pencil, is 'Only Draw with Apple Pencil' enabled? Does changing this setting help? It may if there is any contact between your hand and your screen.

If the same continues, unpair your Apple Pencil from Settings > Bluetooth, then pair again using the guidance from Connect Apple Pencil with your iPad.

Have a great day!
