Spam Text Notifications on Apple Watch

Hi! I have my iPhone set to no notifications for spam/junk texts. Works great. I have my Apple Watch set to mirror my iPhone, with respect to the message app. However, my Apple Watch still pushes every text through with a notification, even the junk/spam. So, I’m getting an alert on my watch, but not on my phone. Is there a way to stop these notifications on the watch or is turning off watch notifications for messages the only solution? Also, the ability for the phone to simply reject any SMS message originating from an Email address may offer a solution. Thank you!

The sender contact info / address, is different every time. Blocking them does nothing. I have enabled filter unknown senders and the devices are fully up to date with latest updates. iPhone 6s and Watch series 2. Thanks

Hi dgm1857,

Looking at the article about blocking unknown message senders, it does not show the Apple Watch:

However, the Apple Watch user Guide for watchOS 6 doesn't mention any exceptions for notifications.

Choose how notifications are delivered
By default, the notification settings for the apps on your Apple Watch mirror the settings on your iPhone. But you can customize how some apps display notifications.
1. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
2. Tap My Watch, then tap Notifications.
3. Tap the app (for example, Messages), tap Custom, then choose an option. Options may include:
• Allow Notifications: The app displays notifications in Notification Center.
• Send to Notification Center: Notifications are sent directly to Notification Center without your Apple Watch making a sound or displaying the notification.
Apps that support direct delivery to Notification Center include Activity, Breathe, Calendar, Mail, Messages, Podcasts, Reminders, and Wallet.
• Notifications Off: The app sends no notifications.

You can also manage notifications preferences directly on your Apple Watch by swiping left on a notification and tapping the More button. Options may include:
• Deliver Quietly: Notifications are sent directly to Notification Center without your Apple Watch making a sound or displaying the notification. To see and hear these notification alerts again, swipe left on a notification, tap the More button, then tap Deliver Prominently.
• Turn Off on Apple Watch: The app sends no notifications.

We'd suggest contacting Apple Support to verify if "Filter Unknown Senders" should apply when mirroring your iPhone to your Apple Watch.

Hello dgm1857,

According to your post, you've set no notifications for junk or spam messages on your iPhone and mirrored your Apple Watch. However, you still receive notifications for incoming spam/junk messages on your Apple Watch.

How are you disabling these junk/spam notifications exactly? Are you blocking these contacts when you receive a message, as described here: Block phone numbers, contacts, and emails on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support Or maybe you have 'Silence Unknown Callers' enabled? Learn more on that here: Detect and block spam phone calls - Apple Support

It also wouldn't hurt to make sure that both devices are up to date:
