Unable to download/update from current OS X 10.9.5 to 10.15 or later.Help?

Unable to download/update from current OS X 10.9.5 to 10.15. or later. Clicking onto Software Update doesn't show anything. When I downloaded Catalina from Apple Support, it says corrupt image. What can I do to update my OS X. Current iMac is 21.5 late 2013.

Something I read about is that it has to do with the switch from the HSF+ to APFS file system. You might have a better chance by upgrading to High Sierra and having it install as APFS first. Then do the install for Catalina.

Keep in mind that Catalina is 64-bit only. So if there are any apps you use that don't have a 64-bit version, you might want to stay with Mojave.
